SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT

 

PART TIME SEASONAL HARBORMASTER:

to work for our Marina and Harbormaster Division this summer season, with a flexible schedule. Some weekend and holiday work required. Qualifications:

  • Able to Professionally and Politely deal with the public.
  • Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. 

 Duties:

  1. ENFORCEMENT OF FEDERAL, STATE, AND TOWN RULES, REGULATIONS, AND BYLAWS.
  2. COLLECT LAUNCH RAMP AND TRANSIENT DOCKAGE FEES.
  3. OPERATION OF FUEL DOCK SERVICES, PUMP OUT SERVICES
  4. PATROL TOWN WATERWAYS AS REQUIRED, CHECKING WATER SAFETY, POLLUTION, TRAFFIC CONDITIONS, AND OTHER MATTERS AS NECESSARY.
  5. ASSIST WITH THE AID OF PERSONS AND VESSELS IN DISTRESS.
  6. KEEPS HARBORMASTER ABREAST OF SITUATIONS RELATIVE TO THE MARINA.

ASSISTS HARBORMASTER AS NECESSARY.

  • Other duties include but are not limited to… processing new mooring applications and payments, processing slip lease charges, making dockage reservations via the town system for visiting boaters, and assisting with other office clerical work.
  • IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE EMPLOYEE WILL PERFORM ANY REASONABLE TASK, IN ADDITION TO THOSE LISTED ABOVE, THAT IS RELATED TO HIS/HER JOB AND IS REQUESTED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD.

LIFEGUARDS: Applicants must be at least 16 years old and have current American Red Cross certifications. Ocean front lifeguarding module a plus. All applicants will be required to participate in Surf/Rescue conducted by the Town of Wellfleet pre-season and successfully complete water skills and a Swim/Run. Five shifts per week from 9am to 5pm. Starting rate at $20/hour. Starting rate flexible depending on skill level and experience 6/22/2024 through Labor Day. Weekends required.

 

PARKING LOT ATTENDANTS:  Applicants aged 16 and over are needed to check Beach stickers as cars enter parking lots. Applicants must possess excellent customer service skills. Experience working with the public a plus. Applicants must be able to work outside in both hot, sunny conditions and chilly, windy conditions, tolerate hours of standing and have the ability to lift and move 30 pounds. Heavy public contact. Reliable transportation needed. Five shifts per week from 9am to 4pm. Part- time available. Starting at $17/hour. 6/22/2024 through Labor Day. Weekends required.

 

PARKING LOT SUPERVISORS:  Parking lot supervisors aged 21 and over needed to supervise staff at manned parking lots and to check stickers at unmanned lots. Applicants must be able to work outside in hot sunny conditions and chilly, windy conditions, and have the ability to lift and move 30 pounds. Heavy public contact. Reliable transportation a must. Mileage paid. Five shifts a week from 9am to 4pm. Starting at $20/hour. 6/22/2024 to Labor Day. Weekends required.
